The Hero(es):

Aiden Bradford - a doctor who shares his practice with his father. He never wants children and after the condom broke, he told Melanie that in no uncertain terms.

The Love Story: Melanie can't work while on bed rest so when Aiden says he will help by giving her an apartment, she can't refuse. They go from strangers, to more while she eats her way through the town.

I loved many of the previous books and thought the schtick about the Bradford men always being hungry and able to eat enough for ten men was hilarious. However, in this book it was Melanie who was the foodie. And boy did she eat in this one. At first I thought it was because she was pregnant and carrying a Bradford boy, but she stays just as food obsessed after having the baby.

All I could think of is how much weight she would gain being on bed rest for 9 months and eating junk food non-stop throughout the entire thing. It wasn't as cute or funny. I know with the Bradford men, it is a non-issue as I know how easy it is for guys to lose weight compared to women. It just seemed to me to be the main theme in this book, not just a side thing that pops up every now and then and made it funny.

Other than that, I liked the crazy Bradford family and thought that storyline was great. Even the storyline about Melanie's sister was good. Though I just didn't like it as much as the earlier books from this series. The narration was fine, though it was only one woman and no men. I tend to like it when the POV switches and there are multiple narrators.

The Bradford family formula is in place, and if you love that and the humor, this may be right up your alley. I have really enjoyed some of the earlier books, but I'd lost touch with this series, so picking it up again, it felt familiar and not necessarily in the best way. The food obsession is expected, the familial snarking and general smart-assery? That I like. But my issue is the lack of character development. The hero and heroine (Aidan and Melanie) are interchangeable with all the other characters in this series.

Now, there's a comfort in formula and for those who have enjoyed it and don't mind a bit of repetition, and some confusion with who's who (a graphic family tree would be incredibly helpful at this point), you may find something to please you. Otherwise, this was just ok for me.

Good story!

I liked Aiden and Melanie's story, but I think Perfection and Fire & Brimstone are still my favorites of this series. I am actually looking forward to Devin and Charlie's story. I think Devin is the first Bradford with kids and it will be interesting to see how his story fits into the mix with these crazy Bradfords and their love of food.

Does someone have a really quick recap with the name of each brother and his book/girl/occupation?

Aiden and Melanie were OK.
But I really didn't remember anything about Melanie's personnality from the previous book and in this one I found her really boring.
The only thing noticeable about her is her obsession with food.
It was a cute personnality trait before and we had some funny situations but here it took too much importance over the story. It was really too much to be funny anymore.
Aiden was nothing special. There was nothing irresistible about him.

Concerning the side characters, I didn't remember Rebecca this way at all. Has her personnality totally changed or have I just forgotten everything?
Concerning the other brothers and family, It has been too long for me so I was confused a lot of times trying to remember who was who (Roger, Kenzie, Devin, Duncan...who the hell are they again?????)

So for me it's just another average story. I was a fan on the beginning of the series but the 3 or 4 last books were nothing special so I'm done.

And the all book is a constant of all that. The story which could've been very good, lost it's shine and mostly emotions. Even the good parts felt a bit rubbed out, the feelings weren't there...
So yeah i love the original recipe of this serie but not when it's a repeat of a repeat.
Really disappointed... i'll try the next book anyway but just the teaser got me to cringe after reading ABSENTLY agaiiiiin.

When I was in Grade 12, I had a teacher who circled all of the times I used one certain phrase within a paper I wrote. It was an eye-opening experience and helped me improve my writing. Engagement factor off the charts and an awesomely hilarious read that I didn't want to end.

This is the one we have been waiting for...and it was okay.

Again...the jilted conversation and sentences/stories left untold are often funny, but I found it a bit OTT in this one.

R.L. Was one of the first romance authors I read. I love the spunk of her characters, and the stories are cute. Unfortunately, for me anyway, this series is becoming redundant. I don't think I will be picking up another one...though this isn't the first time I've said that, and each time I allow myself to get sucked back in, I feel the same afterward... I wish I remembered I said I was out.

I always enjoy reading Mathewson novels. This is complete fluff but enjoyable fluff. The only issue for me is that after a lot of this series the funny bits are very repetitive. I've maybe had enough of the Bradfords I'm sad to say. Also reading Bradford books make me unsurprisingly very hungry!

This was not worth the 2 year wait it took to write this book. I loved all the other books in the series, but this one was just plain boring. I took so many breaks while reading this and I was glad it was over. The main characters have no connection at all, which is a must in my opinion. That's why I had a hard time connecting with the story. They would have worked better as co parents and friends. I was looking forward to Aiden's story... it was decent but could have had more depth to the characters and their intersections. Not a lot really happened. I also don't think this would work as a standalone. Unless you've read other books in the series you'd have no idea why Melanie was eating so much for example. Lots of references to other Bradfords that were randomly placed as well. Not sure I'd recommend this to new readers but as a fan of the series I had to give it a go.

She thinks Aiden hates her because of how mean he was to her the morning after the slept together.

I find myself hoping this is the last book in the series as the plots are getting very formulaic. A character arc is important, but when you buy a NFH book, you know what you're going to get. The heroine is feisty and the hero is an overbearing, insensitive, jerk, but he gets better in the course of the book. There's all the Bradford mythology, which is always fun, but it's getting exaggerated at this point. There are several phrases that are repeated many times and are in all the books. Two of which are "yes, yes, you did" (or "yes, yes, it was") and "It really was". That's a shame because the dialog is generally good. Also overdone are the references to Aidan's balls. This is something that is found in the other books and stories, too.

For some reason, this book felt like it had less heart than the previous ones and that the author was mostly going through the motions. Also, everyone knows you mix pretzel, caramel, and peanut butter M&Ms in the bag.

But that is an expectation going in, and while I hope it might change, it still hasn't. No, what I loved about Aiden and Melanie is that we got to see them falling for each other. We knew they had a connection, duh, baby and all, but they hadn't done all the things to fall in love. We got to see that, once they started paying attention to each other, and their five things was beautiful to watch evolve and deepen. Adding to this already amazing series, R.L. Mathewson gives us the book we have been waiting for, Aidan and Melanie's story. We knew something happened in Lucifer and Rebecca's story; and Melanie being pregnant with Aidan's baby, and he has no clue is pretty much it. Now, Melanie is six months along and has finally decided to work up the nerve and tell her baby daddy that he is just that.. her baby daddy. But true to Bradford form, nothing goes the way that it should.

Sometimes these books can annoy me, but that wasn't the case with this one. It was more of a slow burn romance, one that started with a one night stand and then the couple had to get to know each other. Sure Aidan didn't come off good at the start, but that quickly changed. I liked the game that he invented, the 5 things. It really allowed Aidan and Melanie to get to know each other. I also loved that everytime that Melanie's sister tried to "up" her Aidan shut her down and hard.
